Dr. Danielle Brittain

Dr. Brittain’s primary research interest is promoting individual and population health through the identification and targeting of socio-cultural determinants of physical activity in underserved populations. Specific aims of Dr. Brittain’s research are to: (a) Identify theory-based socio-cultural determinants of physical activity, within a population health framework and (b) Develop and assess the individual and population health impacts of physical activity interventions containing socio-cultural change components and proven cognitive-behavioral change components, within underserved populations. Dr. Brittain is also interested in using a social ecological approach to address the process of development and maintenance of community health promotion programs and the effects of these programs on policy and health outcomes.
