Master of ScienceAcademics > Masters of Science A Master of Science degree in Health and Exercise Science is available with a concentration in Exercise Physiology or Health Promotion. Exercise Physiology is both a basic and an applied science that describes, explains,and utilizes the body’s responses to acute exercise and its adaptation to chronic training in order to maximize human physical potential. By studying Exercise Physiology, students should be better able to apply the results from scientific research in order to maximize health, rehabilitation, and/or athletic performance in a variety of populations. Health Promotion integrates all purposeful activities designed to improve personal and public health through a combination of strategies including competent implementation of behavior change strategies, health education, health protection measures, risk factor detection, risk factor reduction, health enhancement, and health maintenance activities. Students in the Health Promotion emphasis learn how to develop, implement, and evaluate interventions and programs that are based on behavior change theory, and emphasize modification of lifestyle risks.
